Hide what should not be seen
Screenshots carry email addresses, order numbers and names; photos show faces and number plates of people who never agreed to appear online. Sharing them safely means covering those parts before the file leaves your device. This tool lets you mark rectangles on the picture and hide them with a solid box, pixelation or blur, and saves a new file in which the covered pixels are really changed.
Hide areas in four steps
- Choose an image or drop it on the page.
- Pick an effect: Solid box, Pixelate or Blur, and its strength or color.
- Drag over the picture to mark each area. Remove a mistake with the list below the picture.
- Choose a file format and press Download picture.
Which effect to choose
A solid box destroys the pixels beneath it, so nothing can be recovered. Pixelation replaces each block by its average color, and blur smooths the area. Both look friendlier, but with small text or a few digits they can sometimes be reversed or guessed by software, especially at low strength. Use the box for anything sensitive and keep blur and pixelation for faces and scenery where a rough guess does no harm.
Typical uses
- Covering an address, phone number or token in a screenshot before you post it.
- Blurring faces of bystanders in a photo.
- Hiding a number plate or house number.
- Removing a name from a document scan you share for a support request.
Why the file is safe to share
The result is encoded again from the changed pixels. Hidden areas are not stored as a layer under the cover, and camera and GPS data of the original are left behind. The whole edit happens in this tab, and nothing is uploaded. Before you share the result, view it at full size and check that no edge of a letter sticks out of the box; mark the area with a small margin.
