Turn the pages of a PDF the right way up

Scanners sometimes feed half the stack sideways, and phone apps save contracts in landscape. This page rotates single pages or the whole document by 90°, 180° or 270° and saves a new PDF. The file is read and written inside your browser, so it never leaves your device.

Rotate a PDF in five steps

  1. Drop the PDF onto the drop zone or click it to choose the file. A tile appears for every page, with its number and size.
  2. To turn everything, leave the page field empty and press Rotate right 90° or Rotate left 90°. To turn only some pages, type them first, for example 2-4, 9.
  3. To fix one page, use the small arrows on its tile. The preview turns with it, so you see the result before you save.
  4. Look at the counter above the tiles. It says how many pages differ from the original, and Reset all brings every page back.
  5. Press Save rotated PDF, then download the result.

What changes inside the file

A PDF stores one rotation value per page. The tool adds your turn to the value the page already has and leaves everything else alone. Text stays searchable, images are not recompressed, and bookmarks, links and form fields survive. The file size hardly changes.

How the page previews work

Each tile shows a small picture of the page. Drawing it needs the pdf.js engine, a download of roughly half a megabyte that happens once, the first time you open a PDF here, and is cached afterwards. The previews are drawn while you scroll. If they cannot be loaded, for example offline on a first visit, the tiles fall back to page number, size and a ▲ for the top, and the tool still turns and saves the file.

Limits and privacy

A PDF can have up to 300 MB and 2,000 pages. An encrypted PDF asks for its password, which is used only in memory, and the saved file has no password. The tool turns pages; it does not straighten a skewed scan or fix an image that is upside down inside the page.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

No. Only the rotation value of each page changes. Text and images are not re-encoded, so nothing gets blurrier.
